Top 10 things to see

Kos Town
You can visit the Plane Tree of Hippocrates where according to the myth Hippocrates taught medicine, the Casa Romana with it's beautiful Roman findings, the Roman Odeon which is a well maintained 2nd century theater and Kos Museum with interesting island artifacts. If walking is your style, Kos town features some wonderful routes which you can finish at one of the many restaurants and bars.

 

Antimachia Fortress
Only a 45 minute walk from Nissia Kamares, the Antimachia Fortress offers unique panoramic views of Kardamena especially during sunrise and sunset when the light turns the scenery into a true postcard setting.

Kefalos Beaches & Agios Stephanos

The Kefalos area is famous for its beaches. Magic beach, Lagada beach, Paradise beach, Camel beach and Agios Stephanos are all wonderful choices for a true sandy beach experience. Drive a bit further away to Kavo Paradiso beach to see if it lives up to its name. It will not disappoint! 

Nissyros Island and Volcano
Only an hour by boat from Kardamena port, Nissyros Island is the perfect day trip excursion. Once you arrive in Mandraki port head up to Nikia and Emborios, have a coffee and play some backgammon or simply enjoy the unfettered views to the Aegean. For a lunar landscape experience (in the outskirts of the Aegean Sea no less!) don't neglect a visit to the islands' Volcano

Sunset in Zia
Rising at 350 meters above sea level, Zia is the place to spot all the nearby islands. If you are looking for a touch of romance while in Kos, this is undoubtedly the place to enjoy a lovely dinner against a sunset backdrop. 

Therma Springs
Feel like swimming under the stars? A 15 minute drive from Kos town, Therma is a natural hot spring open all day. 

Plaka Peacock Forest
If you are travelling with family, the children will surely enjoy an excursion to Plaka. Walk in this forested area and discover the graceful peacocks! 

Paleo Pili Castle
For the history buffs, the ruins of Paleo Pili Byzantine Castle will undoubtedly make for an interesting excursion. Plus, you get the added bonus of breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and the nearby islands. 

Asklepion
The most significant landmark of Kos island and universally famous, Asklepion was a healing temple where Hippocrates set the foundations of modern medicine.

Bodrum Bazaar
Only a 30 minute boat trip from Kos town, Bodrum offers a large and colourful open market every Tuesday.
